Psychology Minors

Students who are not psychology majors and who elect to pursue a minor in psychology may choose among four minors: clinical psychology, cognitive neuroscience, human development, or general psychology. Every minor requires that the student take the introductory psychology course, PSY 180 - Person in Psychological Context , and an additional 16 credits, for a total of 20 credits.

Students may not take both the Neuroscience Minor offered by Life, Health, and Physical Services, and the Cognitive Neuroscience Minor offered by psychology. Students may only take one minor in psychology and may not take internship. No more than 8 credits may double-count toward the student’s major(s), minor(s), or core requirements. The psychology program cannot guarantee to offer courses on a schedule that will allow students to complete a specialized minor, particularly for those who add the minor late.

Students wishing to minor in Clinical Psychology select 16 credits among PSY 246 , PSY 281 , PSY 311 , PSY 322 , PSY 345  (class not lab), and additional selected topics courses as approved by the department chair.
