The education minor provides a study of the foundations of schooling, teaching, and learning and helps students develop basic teaching skills. This minor is intended for students interested in educational opportunities such as:
- Teaching school subjects for which licensure may not be required (e.g. Bible or theatre);
- Exploring education before enrolling in a graduate level initial licensure program (e.g., Middle/Secondary Education, ESL, Moderate Disabilities);
- Becoming a director of an Early Care Center;
- Youth or children’s ministry;
- Teaching community-based adult education courses;
- Conducting professional development or vocational training
A minimum of 20 credits required, chosen from the courses below. Additional course options available with approval of education advisor. Up to 12 credits of graduate coursework may be applied to this minor for students meeting the 3.2 GPA requirement for participation in the Gordon Plus program.
