EDU 822 - Education Policy and Advocacy(3) This education policy and advocacy course delves into the interdependent frameworks and decision-making processes that influence educational institutions and practices from the classroom to the university. It examines the historical, social, political, and economic factors that shape policies governing curriculum, funding, governance structures, and educational access. Through analysis of current issues and self-guided research of a policy topic of interest, students gain insights into the agenda setting of policy, its implementation and its impact on diverse stakeholders within communities at large. The course aims to equip students with the critical thinking skills and foundational knowledge needed to understand, critique, and potentially contribute to education policy decisions, as well as to advocate for reforms rooted in an equitable framework.
