EDU 856 - Neuroscience of Literacy(3) This course is a collaborative investigation into the neural substrates of literacy. Fundamental aspects of brain structure and function will be discussed within aspects of language such as reading, writing, classic and progressive aphasia syndromes, dyslexia, dysgraphia, speech perception and production. Contemporary theorizing on how neuroplasticity changed the brain to accommodate reading skills as well as bilingualism will be explored. Neurolinguistic research that relies on current brain mapping technologies will be emphasized.
