This course applies theory to the classroom to analyze how and why language evolves over time and its pedagogical implications for English dialects and accented speech in the classroom. Topics include language variation, English dialects, multilingual learners, accent discrimination, and linguistically sustaining practices. Students collaborate on a project featuring a dialect of English.
