EDU 851 - Foundations of Language, Writing, and Reading Science(3) This course reviews seminal research in the fields of language, writing, and reading science. Topics include understanding the history of reading instruction in the United States, the complex process of literacy development, various models used to represent literacy development, landmark studies related to language and reading science, and the contributions of key researchers in the field. The research will be discussed in light of its application to teaching and instruction in modern day education. This course allows students to develop critical research skills as a scholar-practitioner.
