LEA 730 - Private School Law and Governance(3) This course examines contract and constitutional law, statutory case laws, and legal issues pertaining to private education, including religious rights of Christian schools. The course will explore facets of school law and how it is interwoven in day-to-day decisions. Legal topics to be explored include student discipline, church/state issues, privacy rights, anti-discrimination, liability, and student activities. Christian school policy and the school’s role in society will be discussed. Students will discover the legal frameworks that surround decisions and actions in day-to-day operations. This course will investigate and explore board governance, and its role in Christian schools. Understanding the critical role board governance play in schools is important to understand effective board relations, careful selection, and education of board members.
