Math Intervention


Courses in this online certificate program will equip you to:

  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of knowledge of K-8 mathematics content
  • Administer and interpret diagnostic mathematics assessments to identify goals for students with difficulty learning mathematics
  • Design, facilitate, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions grounded in evidence-based practices to support students with difficulties learning mathematics

The coursework includes field-based experiences involving observation, teaching math lessons, and a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of tutoring.

Pre-requisites:

  • Minimum of an earned bachelor’s degree in education, mathematics, or a closely related field
  • Professional letter of support
  • Brief personal statement of interest in the program

Students are expected to maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA to remain in the program. Only grades of B- (B minus) or better will be counted towards completion of the program requirements. Courses may be repeated; the higher of the grades will be calculated in the cumulative grade point average.

The Math Intervention certificate program is stackable. Following successful program application, the courses completed for this certificate may be applied to one of Gordon’s Math Specialist programs, including licensure-only, M.Ed., or Ed.S.
