The Science of Reading

Courses in this online asynchronous certificate program will equip you to:

• identify and describe the components of structured literacy and their significance in the process of learning to read;
• identify and describe diverse profiles of reading difficulties, including dyslexia;
• administer and interpret diagnostic reading assessments; and 
• design interventions grounded in evidence-based practice. 

Pre-requisites:

• Baccalaureate degree in any field;
• Valid teaching license or EDU 533 - Science of Reading  and EDU 543 - Science of Effective Literacy Instruction   

This Science of Reading certificate program is stackable. Following successful program application, the courses completed for this certificate may be applied to one of Gordon’s Reading Specialist programs, including licensure-only, M.Ed., or Ed.S.
