Education Minor

The education minor provides a study of the foundations of schooling, teaching, and learning and helps students develop basic teaching skills. This minor is intended for students interested in:

Teaching subjects for which licensure may not be required (e.g. Bible or theatre);
Exploring education before enrolling in a graduate level initial licensure program;
Becoming a director of an Early Care Center;
Youth or children’s ministry;
Teaching community-based adult education courses;
Conducting professional development or vocational training;

A minimum of 20 credits required, chosen from the courses below.

Required courses

EDU 520 Teaching Strategies Credits: 3 (see Graduate Academic Catalog for course description) plus one of the following:
EDU 225 - Child Development and Learning (4) or
PSY 245 - Life Span Developmental Psychology (4) or
EDU 562 Human Development and Learning 3 credits (see Graduate Academic Catalog for course description)
