The sustainable development minor is designed to prepare students to engage in sustainable development work in a variety of settings, as well as to pursue graduate studies in the field of development. It explores theories and practice of development with a particular concern for issues of social equity, economic viability and ecological integrity. Students are encouraged to think critically and analytically about the work of development, weighing carefully the competing values that often shape that work.
The minor consists of a minimum of 20 credits of required and elective courses. Students must also complete an internship or off-campus program that focuses significant content on questions concerning development and sustainability.
