Foundations
The Department of Economics and Business offers four distinct majors: accounting, business administration, economics and finance. Students majoring in business administration may also elect to complete a concentration in international business, management, or marketing. Students may choose only one concentration. Additionally, the department jointly sponsors with the Political Science Department the international affairs major (see Interdisciplinary/Off-Campus Programs ).
All students majoring in accounting, business administration, economics or finance are required to take the following courses:

Students must continuously maintain a 2.0 GPA within the major.
Requirements for the major
The business administration major builds on a foundation of economic theory and is designed to stress the fundamentals of management, marketing, accounting, finance and quantitative methods. The graduate with this major should be well prepared for a professional career in business or for further training in business or other areas.
Completing the business administration major requires at most 52 credits in total. Required courses in addition to the Foundations are:
Upper-level electives
An additional 8 credits of economics and business coursework within the department at or above the 300 level are required. One of the following courses may also count toward the 8 credit requirement:

Double majors in accounting and business administration will not be allowed to use the following courses as electives for their business administration major: ECB 352 , ECB 353 , ECB 361 , ECB 362 , ECB 364 , ECB 443 .
Concentrations
Students majoring in business administration may also elect to complete one concentration in international business, management, or marketing as an alternative format for the business administration major; more than one concentration in the major is not allowed. Upper level ECB courses will count towards the electives requirement in the major.
International Business Concentration
In addition to the Foundations and major requirements listed above, students will complete the following:
- ECB 366 - International Economics Credits: 4
- Foreign language: 12 credits of first-year and intermediate (second-year) language or proficiency at the 201 level (first semester of second year)
Study Abroad Requirement
Students either practice business or study business abroad (i.e. outside of North America).
- Practicing business can be fulfilled by any of the following:
- Completing a Gordon Global Internship in business
- Completing an internship as part of Gordon’s global finance program at Hang Sang Management College in Hong Kong
- Completing an overseas for-credit business internship approved by the ECB department
- Studying business can be fulfilled by any of the following:
- ECB 291 International Seminar: Development of Modern China
- Study abroad approved by the ECB department, i.e. at least one 3 (or more) credit course dealing specifically with international business (e.g. global marketing; international finance)
Management Concentration
In addition to the Foundations and major requirements listed above, students will complete 16 credits from the courses below, with no more than 4 credits of non-departmental courses.
Marketing Concentration
In addition to the Foundations and major requirements listed above, students will complete 16 credits from the courses below, with no more than 8 credits of non-departmental courses.
