MISSION: The School of Education strives to prepare teachers who are knowledgeable in their content areas, well informed about research-based curriculum and instructional practices, and grounded in the foundation of their Christian faith. Teachers are equipped to effectively meet the needs of diverse student populations in public and private schools in the United States and abroad.

Teacher licensure requires teachers to hold an ESL license or to have taken an ESL endorsement course. Gordon College offers a minor in English as a Second Language (ESL) which may be completed alongside the early childhood, elementary education majors. If scheduling does not allow a student to complete the courses required for an ESL license, there is an option of earning Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) endorsement. Licensure Requirements for English as a Second Language

✣ The College reserves the right to alter program requirements as necessary to remain in compliance with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure standards.
