ESL Minor (PreK - 8)

The School of Education offers a minor in ESL that includes study of ESL theory, Sheltered English Immersion (SEI), ESL methodology, assessment and policy. This minor is limited to education majors. Other students interested in teaching English to speakers of other languages may complete the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) minor. Students seeking ESL licensure are required to maintain a 2.70 cumulative GPA and earn a C or better in education classes.

EDU 305 - Second Language Acquisition and Sheltered English Instruction 4 credits
EDU 306 - English as a Second Language and the Assessment of English Learner Proficiency 4 credits
EDU 400 - Teaching English as a Second Language Practicum 6-8 credits
EDU 401 - ESL Pre-Practicum Seminar 1 credits
