Admissions Information - Public Health

Gordon College welcomes women and men of academic promise who wish to enroll in a program leading to the Master of Public Health. Candidates who demonstrate capacity for graduate work, potential to contribute to the knowledge and practice of public health, and who wish to study in an atmosphere where the Christian faith is applied to learning are invited to enroll for graduate study.

Permission to take graduate courses at Gordon College for the first time is granted by the Program Director, based on a review of a completed application.

MPH Program Requirements for Admission

  • A completed graduate program application
  • Official transcripts of all degrees earned from accredited undergraduate schools. An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher is required*
  • A résumé or curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Two references are required to attest to the candidate’s character and ability to succeed in this program. Recommenders can be academic or professional, though at least one academic reference is required if the candidate is within two years of graduation
  • An essay describing why the candidate is applying to the MPH program at Gordon College. The essay can be submitted in written form (generally 500 to 700 words) or as a video recording (approximately 3-5 minutes)
  • International applicants whose native language is not English must submit one of the exam results listed below. The requirement may be waived if the applicant has earned an undergraduate or master’s degree in an English-speaking country or from an institution at which English is the language of instruction
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
    • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)

Gordon College does not require either the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or the GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) for admission. However, applicants may choose to submit their score if they feel the application does not best reflect their quantitative abilities.

*Students with promise, but whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 may be admitted on a provisional status.
