The environmental concentration prepares students for a range of careers in environmental research and conservation, particularly with an emphasis in sustainability and stewardship.

Required courses

BIO 222 - Environmental Science 4 credits
BIO 310 - Ecology 4 credits or BIO 440 - Advanced Techniques in Ecology Credits: 4
CHE 312 - Environmental and Instrumental Analysis 4 credits or other approved environmental chemistry course
Two summer field courses at Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies or other approved field-based program
BA students will need an additional 16 credits of biology electives, approved by the department
BS students will need an additional 8 credits of biology electives (16 credits without physics) approved by the department
