Professional Writing Minor

The professional writing minor aims to supplement students’ major fields of study by equipping them to become effective on-the-job communicators. Graduates will be able to write cogently and compellingly according to recognized professional standards. This minor is available only to students outside of the English major.

Students who have declared both the professional writing minor and the English minor may not use courses from one to fulfill requirements in the other. The two minors must consist of separate sets of courses.

Up to four credits may be taken online through an approved consortium arrangement; these credits must be approved by the advisor and the Registrar’s office.

Selected topics courses must have a clear focus on composition and rhetoric and requires advisor approval.

Internships must include a substantial writing component and require advisor approval.

At least 50% of the credits (10) must be completed with Gordon College coursework.
