TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)

The TESOL minor is geared towards students who have desire to teach English to speakers of other languages. Students who complete the TESOL minor will:
- Certified by Gordon College as TESOL-approved instructors;
- Be qualified to teach English to speakers of other languages in a variety of international settings;
- Understand the ministry-related opportunities that exist with the scope of TESOL
Upon completion of the minor, students will be able to:
- Plan and implement TESOL instruction for a variety of child to adult learners;
- Deliver TESOL instruction using a variety of digital and face-to-face learning environments’
- Understand the linguistic nature and structure of English and be familiar with the basic linguistic elements of at least one other language;
- Understand how culture and language are intertwined and how to incorporate the resident culture into TESOL instruction

Requirements
20 credits from the courses below. Prerequisites required by a course do not count towards the TESOL minor unless they are also listed below.
Elective Courses
Choose eight additional credits from the following courses. At least one course must be from the BCM options.
