Optional Concentrations

The following concentrations are available to majors. Select courses will apply to both major and concentration requirements.

Early Christianity

The concentration (for history majors) and minor (for non-history majors) in Early Christianity introduces students to the world of the early church. The program provides a historical context for the growth and global spread of Christianity and equips students with the analytical and language skills to pursue research on early Christian texts.

Languages

Required Language (8 credits): Two semesters of one relevant ancient language (Koine Greek, Latin, Syriac).

Public History and Museum Studies Concentration

History majors interested in careers in museum education, museum administration, collections management, artifact conservation, archival and curatorial positions, as well as the growing field of history-related mass media and technology may complete a concentration in Public History and Museum Studies with courses listed below. Entry level positions in above fields may be attained by students with a bachelor’s degree.
