FRE 672 - The Importance of Food in French Culture

3 credits
From a variety of sources including literature, film, menus, reviews and recipes, we will investigate the central aspect of food and culinary arts in the life of France. The influence of food on expression, vocabulary, and other aspects of every-day life in France and beyond. We will study plot, characters and textual analysis. Planned structured sharing and assignments for speaking and writing. This is an active course of student participation and not a lecture series. Reading, discussions and activities and explications de texte. This course is designed to increase student’s language skills. A regular class will meet via Zoom at a regular time. Students will consult with professor to arrange class times. Group work will take place via Zoom where nationwide classmates can meet on a flexible basis.
