FRE 668 - Literary Childhoods

This seminar will explore the modern French autobiographical tradition through the evolution of the récit d’enfance or childhood narrative from the eighteenth century to the present. We will explore the variety of plot organization, the problems of narration, the paradox of autobiography. This course is designed to increase student’s language skills. Some attention will be given to culling segments of the works for use in the public-school setting. This is an active course of student participation and not a lecture series.
