Covers Charles Darwin, his antecedents and his work; development of evolutionary thought up to 1960s; and recent controversies including creation science and intelligent design. Substantial attention given to interactions with earth and life sciences, biblical interpretation, and social and anthropological thought, including ideas about human evolution and race.
