Requirements for a Liberal Arts Second Major

All education majors must complete an appropriate second liberal arts major in keeping with the licensure requirements of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Acceptable second majors are listed under each education major’s requirements.

New Licensure Requirements for English as a Second Language

Teacher licensure starting this year will require teachers to hold an ESL license or to have taken an ESL endorsement course. To comply with the new regulations, Gordon College offers a concentration in English as a Second Language (ESL) which may be completed alongside the early childhood, elementary, middle school or secondary education majors. If scheduling does not allow a student to complete the courses required for an ESL license, there is an option of earning ESL endorsement.
