FRE 667 - The Views of Animals Throughout French Literature

Animals viewed by man in a variety of literary contexts from the middle ages to the modern world: fables, poetry, novels. Animals that outwit, animals that act out human endeavors, animals that represent historical aspects, animals that frighten. Through a reading of several novels we will see animals in a new light. Reading, discussions and activities and explications de texte. This is an active course of student participation and not a lecture series. This course is designed to increase student’s language skills.
