KIN 420 - Modeling and Simulation of Human Movement

Credits: 4
Introduction to research methods involved in analyzing gait mechanics using computational modeling and simulation of the musculoskeletal system.  Inverse dynamics, static optimization and forward dynamic approaches are explored as means to study both the generalized muscle torques and individual muscle forces involved in movement and their effects on the skeletal system.  Laboratory component involves hands-on experience with experimental and computational tools used in capturing human movement and creating forward dynamic simulations.  Weekly laboratory. Lab fee.

Prerequisite(s): KIN 212 , KIN 320
